13.01.15. Beginners. Basic step + little opening to the right

Hi everybody! Today we had the pleasure to start another beginners course in Bremen. We started with the basic step and after that we did a little opening to the right. For the basic step you can check this video too (there are subtitles in English):

For the little opening we said something important: the guys have to be always a gentleman and think “first the lady”. We invite the lady in every movement. For the lady: it’s important for you to keep your upper body directed to the guy.

11.01.15. Beginners 2. Bumerangue + turn after yo-yo

Hi everybody! Today in Bremen we have done two things.

At the beginning we did one exercise for the ladies to understand how to be light for the guy. We have to feel the hand of the guy on our back. If we are going forward we have to do it active, not waiting a lot (the hand is too hot!) but without losing the contact. If we are going backwards we have to keep the contact too and go actively backwards-

After that we did one nice step. First we did the bumerangue and the guy is turning to the left too. Please guys, during the bumerangue let your hand over the head of the lady and not over yours. We bring the lady to us like with the yo-yo and when the lady goes away from us we will turn to the left. Watch now the video. You have to turn focusing on the lady and feeling the tension of her arm.

For the ladies: we are doing our ladystyling. After the turn, when we are doing “one” with the right foot we start with the ladystyling.

Be a zouk activist

We love zouk and we want to spread it everywhere. That’s our challenge. Because other dances like salsa or tango are well known in the whole world. Zouk is growing in another way: people fall in love with the dance and bring their friends to the dance scene. That’s the reason why zouk is so special.

Now we bild in Bremen a group of dancers, who want to fight for zouk. Do you want to be an activist? If you like the choreography feel free to use it in order to reach more people and make zouk get bigger and better.
