22.06.15. Beginners. Pizza turn to the left with turn in for the guys.

Hi!

For the ladies: we are going the third step on the spot always (for the lateral and for the turns). You can strecht your right arm outside after every lateral step and don’t forget to bring your left arm up while doing the left turn.

For the guys:

1. The pizza turn. First lead the lateral of the lady, then you turn. Don’t forget to “cross the street”.

2. The left turn of the lady. Cross the street again.

3. If you are turning in, you will go around the lady. You go with your left foot but you turn to the right. Focus on the lady, so you can turn easily.

4. For the left turn of the lady go with your body to the right and push the arm of the lady.

21.06.15. Dancing with control and not like a robot.

Hi!

Control your moves while dancing is very important because we are not robots! If you want to play with your partner or with the music you have to control every single step.

This kind of exercises helps you to improve the quality of your dance.

17.06.15. Beginners / Intermediate. The olé step.

Hi!

Today we learn the “olé” step.

For the ladies. First you turn on the line to the left and then you will paint a half of circle with your right foot on the floor. Your right hand is painting also half of circle over the foot. Then you will go two steps backwards and the last thing to do is the bumerangue step.

For the guys. If the lady is painting half of circle with the right to the front, it’s very nice if you are painting a half of circle with the left backwards.

There are two difficult points in this step for the leading:

1. To lead the circle of the lady. You have to paint the circle with your leading while the lady is going to the front (Watch the video).

2. For the leading of the bumerangue you have to turn your body to the left (in this way the lady will go into the line) and to go backwards (and the lady will have the energy for the turn).

16.06.15. Musicality. Some moves on the spot to play with the music

Hi!

We have a nice musicality zouk course in Bremen every Tuesday. Today we put some moves we did on the spot into the music. The beat is just one part of the music, a normal song has a lot of information, like the melody or the voice. In the musicality course we try to make the music visible. And singing can help you :-)  Watch 03:48 to see an example to put this moves into the music.

16.06.15. Intermediate. Combination: Titanic from elastic and bumerangue with olé

Hi!

We have a nice combination for the intermediate today without head movements.

We start the titanic from the elastic. Here you will find a nice explanation:

Now guys you will lead the bumerangue step with your left hand. The first step the lady goes and you go on 2. On 3 you will let your right hand over the shoulder of the lady. Watch the video to see how to lead the lady for her to cross in front with the right. Ladies: it’s very nice if you try to paint a circle with your right foot on the floor and you can go with your right hand over your foot too.

Guys, take care about the lady and bring your left arm over her head. Then you will lead the lady two steps back, the first with your right hand and the second with your left hand. After that you will turn the lady in but pull first into the line.

I love this beginning for the titanic step.

For the guys:

  • The point is to block the lady with your left hand on her left shoulder on 2. First you lead the elastic on 1 and on 2 you put your left hand on her left shoulder. Normally the ladies go with the left hand up dancing the elastic and you have to avoid it.
  • On 3 you will be on the other side and then lead the lady two steps backwards openig to your right.

For the ladies: I like the styling opening with your right hand to the right, because you move in this direction. Look before you stretch your arm because at the party we don’t have enough space and you can hit other dancers.

Hi!

1. Bumerangue reverse

You can dance it from the basic step or from lateral step. For the ladies: you are turning on the line, try to go your steps always further on the line. Guys: you need some space if you want to lead the lady into the line, because the arms of the lady have to be stretched. You go the first step backwards with the left to pull the lady into the line (go with your body). You will hold both hands of the lady together. While turning the lady the hands are over her head, not over yours.

2. Elastic without elastic

For the ladies, you go just to the front like in the basic step. Guys: with the right hand you bring the lady to the front, the left hand stays in front of her face. On 3 you have to be in the other side weil you want to lead her into the cambre.

3. Cambre

While the lady is going back she have to bend to the front. Guys, first you lead the lady back and one moment later you lead her down with your left hand and with your right under arm. Ladies: do the preparation for the cambre, contract your center, put your pelvis to the front, your chest is in and your head is to the front. If you do the cambre, your knees go to the front while you are rolling backwards. Your head is the last part of your body going back. If the guy lead the wave, you start it moving your head to the front. Guys, watch the video to see how to lead the move with your body.

The strange name will help you to remember the step :-)

We want to go around the lady but we don’t want, that she bend to the front. For it, guys, (1) you will hold your left hand in front of her face and (2) with your right hand you bring the lady to the front on 1 and backwards on the next 1. If the lady try to do the normal elastic, you can block her with your left hand.
