07.09.15. Beginners. Basic step and left turn from basic step.

20.07.15. Beginners 2. Opening on the line after a normal zouk turn

Hi!

You can open on the line from the lateral step but you can do it from the normal zouk turn too. We show you today this possibility.

Ladies: The connection with the partner is very important. The guy starts with the leading and first go your arm and after that your upper body. Don’t turn faster than your arm! At the end you will land, going a little bit down on your knee (plie).

Guys: After 2, if the lady is turning to you, you will give her some more energy for her to open. Go with her, move your body, you will be in front of the lady like in a mirror.

06.07.15. Beginners. Elastic and snake in the close position from the basic step (the guy goes to the side).

Hi!

Today’s step is very nice to play with the music from the basic step.

For the ladies: A very important part is to keep the contact the hole time with the hand of the guy on your shoulder blade. You will only feel the leading if you keep the contact. For the elastic go first with your hips, then with your chest and at the end with your head. If the guy leads you up, the head stays till the end down, then you go up and focus on the guy. If the guy leads the snake, when your head goes up, your chest goes to the floor.  Important: Connect your right hand with your upper body if you are down.

For the guys: Go away from the line of the lady and try to lead the move with your body. You can play with the velocity of the move and with the music. If you bring the lady up, you go with your right foot again in front of the lady.

29.06.15. Beginners. Following means to go active against the contact

Couple dance is a really beautiful thing: two become one in the couple. For it we have leaders and followers (one guy and one lady, two guys, two ladies, everything is posible). We are always speaking about guys and ladies but it would be better to say just leaders and followers.

A very important task for the follower is to make the connection with the leader through the contact. Everytime we have a new contact, the lady have to press against this contact (not to much, just to feel the leading of the leading and not to go alone without a connection).

It doesn’t matter where is the contact. Today’s combination shows you some possibilities.

29.06.15. Intermediate. Painting half of circle with the hips of the lady and turn for both at the same time.

Hi!

Today’s combination has two nice elements:

1. Painting half of circle.

For the guys: after a normal left turn you will put your right hand on 3 on the left hip of the lady. You will push the hips of the lady to your left. On 1 you give some more energy and push with the left hand on her right hip. Both hands are leading the circle. On 2 the lady is on her left side and you bring the hip straight to her right. On 3 the hip is on the right side and then on 1 you can turn the lady.

Ladies: don’t be shy and make the move big. Stretch your legs while painting the circle.

2. Turn for both.

For the ladies: We are doing a normal turn to the left. Go your third step on the spot and take care about your left hand, bringing it up for not to hit the guy.

For the guys: You need to turn a little bit faster than the lady. On 2 you have your right hand on the back of the lady.

22.06.15. Intermediate. Pizza turn to the right and lateral behind the lady.

Hi!

Another pizza turn! Guys today you will do the pizza turn to the right if your lady is doing the lateral to the left. While doing it you will “cross the street”. After that you will lead the next turn of the lady, crossing with your left, turning to the right and changing the hands. For the ladies: you stay always on your line and you go the third step on the spot.

For the elastic: ladies you go first with your hips, then with your chest and at the end with your head. Guys: your left hand on the lower back of the lady leads the elastic from down to the top. You will go with your left hip to the left, leading the elastic with your body. Let the lady transfer the weight back on her left and bring the lady up (with your upper body and with your right hand). Ladies, your left hand needs to be connected with your shoulder for feeling the leading and going up.

At the end of the step, bringing the lady to you, guys, your elbows are outside, her elbows are inside. With your hands on her shoulder blade you will lead carefully the cambré. Lady, don’t forget to bring your pelvis to the front, contract your center and bring your chest is for the cambré. Guys, go a little bit back if you want to lead the wave because the lady needs some space.

22.06.15. Beginners. Pizza turn to the left with turn in for the guys.

Hi!

For the ladies: we are going the third step on the spot always (for the lateral and for the turns). You can strecht your right arm outside after every lateral step and don’t forget to bring your left arm up while doing the left turn.

For the guys:

1. The pizza turn. First lead the lateral of the lady, then you turn. Don’t forget to “cross the street”.

2. The left turn of the lady. Cross the street again.

3. If you are turning in, you will go around the lady. You go with your left foot but you turn to the right. Focus on the lady, so you can turn easily.

4. For the left turn of the lady go with your body to the right and push the arm of the lady.

15.06.15. Beginners / Intermediate. Some possibilities for the hips and for the head on the spot.

Today we did some moves if you are with the lady on the spot at the beginning of a sound and there is no beat.

Wave to the side from the hips

If you go to the left, you will first transfer the weight to the left but you bend your upper body to the right. Then you go little by litlle to the left with your upper body. The same in the other direction: first you go with your hips transfering the weight to the right but your upper body stays to your left. Afer that you go little by little with your upper body to the right.

Circles with the head

Ladies: relax your neck and think at the same time on stretching the opposite side. Transfer the weight with your head (if your head is on your right side, you have your weight on your right leg). If you bring your head to the front, then you put your chest in for keeping your balance.

Guys: play with the shoulder line of the lady and make some space for her to feel comfortable.

Wave to the front

Guys: if the lady is going with the head to the front you can make some space going with your left foot backwards and leading the wave.

Ladies: if your head is on your left side you have your right foot free. If the guy lead you into the wave you can go with your right to the front.

15.06.15. Beginners. The connection between the feet and the upper body.

Hi!

Today we have an important lesson if you want to improve your basics. There is a connection between your feet and your upper body if you are going your steps.

If you go with the right to the front your upper body is turning a little bit to the right. If you go with the left to the front your upper body is turning a little bit to the left.

If you go backwards it’s the opposite: if you go with your left backwards, your upper body turns to the right and if you are going with your right backwards, your upper body is turning to the left.

Imagine you do the basic step:

  • 1 to the front with the right: upper body to the right.
  • 2 to the front with the left: upper body to the left.
  • On 3 you transfer the weight back to the right: going backwards with the right means your upper body is going to the left. But your upper body is already to the left (see the point before), so you don’t need to move your upper body.
  • 1 backwards with the left: upper body to the right.
  • 2 backwards with the right: upper body to the left.
  • On 3 transfer the weight to the front to your left: your upper body should go to the left but it’s already to the left, it means, you don’t move your upper body.

It’s important to pay attention to this details because they bring your dance to the next level.
